East Nashville

East Nashville is a cool area with an alternative vibe just across the river from Downtown.

Welcome to East Nashville

Hip area with historic homes and an alternative vibe

East Nashville is a cool area with an alternative vibe just across the river from Broadway’s honky-tonks. The narrow streets of East Nashville are home to an artistic and forward-thinking community that feels like it belongs in a much larger city. East Nashville is a foodie paradise with an “anything goes” restaurant scene. Small homes are converted into inviting local hangouts where you can enjoy craft cocktails and homebrews in a setting reminiscent of relaxing with a beer in a friend’s backyard. East Nashville has a music scene unlike anywhere else in the city with a preference for anything but country. Every home tells a story. There’s as much character in the walls of the structure as there is within them. Many of the homes are well-maintained Victorian properties and bungalows with an undeniable historic charm.

Things to Do

East Nashville is packed with entertainment options that stray far from the bright lights and tradition of Broadway’s Honky Tonk Highway. The Basement East is a great place to catch touring acts playing all genres imaginable. Five Points is the vibrant epicenter of East Nashville’s idiosyncratic culture. Located where 11th Street and Woodland Street converge, Five Points is full of antique stores, vintage shops, arty boutiques, and independent bars and eateries. The 5 Spot and The East Room are relaxed performance spaces where you can enjoy rock bands, comedy shows, and dance parties. East Nashville is also home to the 950-acre Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Natural Area. This scenic spot features diverse natural habitats strung across three miles of the Cumberland River. Five miles of trails for walking, running, skating, and biking wind through Shelby Bottoms and take in forests, fields, streams, and wetlands with an abundance of native wildlife. Shelby Golf Course is an 18-hole public course covering a picturesque landscape of gently rolling hills and Bermuda greens a few blocks from the river. Shelby Golf Course and Greenway are also close to Shelby Dog Park and the nine-hole riverfront VinnyLinks Golf Course.
